I am a Professor of Economics at Hunter College and the Graduate Center at the City University of New York. I am also an NBER Research Associate and a Senior Advisor at the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation.
My primary area of research involves analyses of the effects of policies and incentives on healthcare utilization and the health of individuals. I also work on bringing new econometric methods to applied analysis. As Senior Advisor at the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, I have helped design and evaluate numerous, large-scale experimental and quasi-experimental interventions to improve quality of care and lower costs of care for Medicare beneficiaries..
